Auchenshuggle Wood
Sandwiched between London Road and the M74 motorway is a small area of woodland that is popular with local cyclists and walkers. The small forest only takes under half an hour to walk around, so it's ideal for a quick outing with the family. It is also used as a forest school and there was evidence of den building and camp fire remnents.
During our walk round there was a small group building a new wooden stick shelter, not too dissimilar to the image above.
There isn't any benches or tables to stop and rest or to have a picnic. Also, much to our childrens' disappointment there is no play park, but hunting for chestnuts proved to be distraction enough for them. This place ideal for a quick walk in the woods.
